Our story

I founded Cohesion because I found a gap in the market in education soft services consultancy. Namely, the lack of focus given to effectively managing the working relationships between schools, consultants and contractors.

Having seen this time and time again during my many years in education procurement, contract management and service design, I decided to do something about it, creating a new consultancy model that would disrupt the sector.

Our work focuses on achieving the best possible outcomes for both school and contractor, whatever the service. Using effective relationship management, we help both parties develop strong and mutually beneficial relationships, in a sector where budgets are tight, labour is in short demand and standards are incredibly high.

Cohesion acts as the missing link. We are the expert in-the-middle guiding, advising, negotiating, mediating and ultimately enabling every school to get the best value for their pupils.

In education soft services, there’s not much we don’t know, can’t do or haven’t seen already. And whilst we never like to blow our own trumpet, our schools repeatedly tell us when they have a challenge, we’re their go-to and their safe pair of hands.

Preparing to deliver UFSM to all Secondary School pupils was a unique and challenging project and Cohesion Consulting were a major player in its successful delivery. Throughout the project they were totally committed to the task, delivering a survey report on all 20 schools within a very short timescale which formed the basis of a Cabinet report that was approved. At every stage of the project, they offered practical and best value solutions that were achievable to ensure that schools could be ready to deliver UFSM. Their expertise in project management, contract negotiations, commissioning and mobilisation was essential and throughout they were honest and approachable with the ability to engage at all levels with schools and the whole project team which made working with them a pleasure during this challenging but exciting project.
